The After School Arts Program serves as a dynamic creative lab dedicated to amplifying and empowering the voices of historically marginalized youth. Through the transformative mediums of filmmaking, reading, writing, and communication arts, ASAP cultivates a nurturing environment where students can explore their creativity and develop essential 21st-century skills.
By fostering leadership and team-building abilities, ASAP prepares students for diverse entry-level job opportunities in creative industries such as film and journalism. With a focus on building pathways for underemployed youth, ASAP is committed to nurturing civic engagement and facilitating a smooth transition to a productive life beyond school.
ASAP facilitates 2 sessions throughout the year, 3 - 5 times a week (includes 1 mentorship session each week).
Each workshop runs 5 - 10 weeks, and is facilitated by a creative professional working at the top of their fields in the entertainment and tech industries.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COURSE
Each Student will receive FREE Final Draft Software (complimentary for 1 year) in addition to a gift bag from our sponsors, which includes a journal.
There are 25 - 40 slots for each series session.All students must attend Boston Public Schools.
Since our 2020 launch, ASAP has partnered with the City of Boston Office of Youth Employment and ABCD (Action for Boston Community Development) to provide jobs to underemployed youth for both the School Year and Summer. Organizations provide onsite enrollment and job placement.
This STORYTELLING WORKSHOP is in collaboration with the AGE STRONG COMMISSION.
